CIEH accredited Cookery Academy

Four Seasons Cookery Academy operates under the experienced guidance of Michele Newton. Michele trained as a chef and front-of-house trainer/assessor. She has worked with both HTP and Smart Training on the Isle of Wight. Michele knows her food, having been a chef since she was 19.
As an accredited trainer, and centre, for the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Four Seasons Cookery Academy is qualified to teach food safety, healthy eating and balanced diets.
It is a legal requirement for all people who handle food to undertake training in Food Safety. As a trained Chef, Michele endorses this and it is both a passion, and vocation, of hers, to teach this subject in a friendly; informative and professional manner.

It is my personal belief that people working in either an extended school situation; PTA's, Church Groups, Scouts, Guides and many other organisations shouldn't be put off preparing and serving food to others - it is an intrinsic part of our community; but in the world we now live in, we do need to ensure that we know what risks are involved, and how we can minimise them. It is the law.
Everyone who provides food for others, whether out of their home, or in a community setting/kitchen, has a duty of care. This basically means that the food that you serve must be free from harm of any kind. Just making sure that you do this isn't quite enough - you need to be able to prove that you do this, just in case something should go wrong. I call it 'having your umbrella up' - the official terminology is showing due diligence which basically means that every food business must be able to demonstrate that it has taken all reasonable precautions to prepare food that is safe to eat.
